 What you'll bring to the role

•    A true passion for caring for others to deliver holistic care that supports residents and ensures needs are met to meet a continuity of care model

•    Bachelor's degree in nursing (or equivalent)

•    Current AHPRA registration (Nursing)

•    The ability to quickly build your knowledge of the AN-ACC funding system attributes (experience with this system would be even better)

•    Experience providing nursing services, whether in aged care, hospitals or community care settings

•    An appreciation for the importance of accurate reporting and documentation management

To work in residential aged care, you will need to provide satisfactory background checks, supply an NDIS worker screening clearance or police check (role dependent), current year flu vaccination, and certification proof.

Role responsibilities

The Cook will assist the Chef and/or Chef Manager with the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Food Safety program and the preparation, cooking and provision of quality food and beverages to meet the resident’s needs and preferences. This is to ensure production and delivery of high-quality meals. This position may also require manual handling tasks to be performed that include, but are not limited to, transferring (lift, lower, carry, push, pull, slide), using equipment used for carrying objects and for manual handling of people.

The Cook is required to model and actively support both the Regis value proposition of Living with Support and the Regis values of Optimism, Passion, Integrity and Respect. You will be responsible for supervision and delivery of premium meal service including menu planning, catering, infrastructure management, ordering, quality service delivery, service delivery improvement. A strong front of house presence is required including communication with residents and families.


Key Responsibilities

•    Responsible for the correct and hygienic preparation and serving of food.

•    Responsible for maintaining and facilitating clean and hygienic work practices.

•    Responsible for the correct and attractive presentation of meals, enhancing them with garnishes, gravies and sauces. 

•    Contribute to the exceptional taste of meals by preparing, cooking and seasoning meals to residents’ satisfaction.  

•    Comply with the Food Act by being involved in the development and the ongoing maintenance of the food safety plan. 

•    Follow correct food safety procedures and processes to properly cook food, and regulate cooking temperatures by monitoring and adjusting temperatures of ovens, stovetops and other cooking appliances.

•    Prevent cross-contamination and properly prepare food to meet special dietary requirements, such as gluten and dairy intolerances, allergies and preferences.

•    Inspect food upon delivery to determine quality and freshness ensuring residents only receive high standard meals. This involves ensuring the food is stored at the correct temperatures and routinely monitoring changes in temperatures. Any issues are promptly reported to the Chef or Chef Manager.

•    Liaise with Assist the Chef and/or Chef Manager to liaise with, residents and significant others for menu planning,  food preparation and special occasions.

•    Contributes to menu planning to meet resident's dietary needs and preferences.

•    Preparation, serving, presentation, and delivery of food and refreshments in accordance with the Food Safety Program. (FSP)

•    Washing dishes and cleaning in accordance with the Food Safety Program.

•    Assist in the monitoring and recording requirements of the FSP for example, recording temperatures, cleaning schedule completion and receipt of goods.

•    Reports and assists in the follow up of customer complaints and Improvement Request Forms for food services.

•    Undertake compulsory education and training requirements with regard to chemical handling, customer service, fire safety, Food safe program, hand washing competency, manual handling competency, mandatory reporting of abuse and emergency training. 

•    Identify and manage risk - OH&S, Risk Managmenet, Quality/Compliance, Safety


Requirements for the role 

•    Experience in Aged Care (preferred)

•    Qualification (Cert III/IV in Commercial Cookery) and/or experience working as a Cook in Aged Care would be advantageous but not necessary

•    Understanding of special dietary needs 

•    Exceptional customer service mindset

•    Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.

What you'll bring to the role

What your compassionate care looks like


  •    You’ll keep a nurturing eye on each resident’s condition, and provide proactive care that creates special moments and enriches their daily life
  •    Manage care plans that uplift the mind, body and spirit through a deep understanding of each resident's holistic needs. You’ll provide respectful, tailored support that empowers their choices and independence
  •     You’ll ensure the safe and reliable management of the delivery of medication according to our protocols and procedures, with accurate documentation of medication plans, interventions and progress notes to enable seamless care and detailed medical record keeping
  •   You will work closely within the team to deliver resident-focused continuity of care models to meet Regis Aged Care best practice


 What you'll bring to the role


  •   A true passion for caring for others to deliver holistic care that supports residents and ensures needs are met to meet a continuity of care model
  •    Bachelor's degree in nursing (or equivalent)
  •    Current AHPRA registration (Nursing)
  •    The ability to quickly build your knowledge of the AN-ACC funding system attributes (experience with this system would be even better)
  •    Experience providing nursing services, whether in aged care, hospitals or community care settings
  •   An appreciation for the importance of accurate reporting and documentation management

To work in residential aged care, you will need to provide satisfactory background checks, supply an NDIS worker screening clearance or police check (role dependent), current year flu vaccination, and certification proof.
